On Episode 86 of the Press Rewind – Prince Lyrics Podcast, I welcome first-time guest, musician Rhonda Nicole (rhondanicole.com) to the show to talk with me about the uber-funky penultimate track off Parade, “Anotherloverholenyohead.”
“We are brothers and sisters united all 4 love.”
Parade is filled with many songs that bring joy to the listeners. This tone (mostly) matches the feeling of the film, Under the Cherry Moon, except for the melodramatic ending. Christopher Tracy loves fun, loves life, loves women, and loves music. “Anotherloverholenyohead” is a song that expresses frustration towards a woman who appears to be considering another man in her life, despite all of the positive attributes Prince/Christopher brings to the table—but done in a fun way, at least musically.
Rhonda brings to the episode her history with this album and the song, so we have a robust discussion and hope you enjoy hearing from two ’80s kids all grown up talking about this fun take on possible infidelity and indecision.
The goal of each episode of Press Rewind is to:
- Take a track by track look at the lyrical content of Prince’s discography
- Discuss my own interpretation of each song’s lyrics along with any guest I may have
- If submitted, discuss listener’s interpretations of each song’s lyrics
Thank you for joining me on this journey through Prince’s catalog!
